Last night, Monday November 16 the club held its Annual General Meeting for 2009.
We were very pleased to see so many members and friends showing interest in the club’s
progress and plans and also being willing to offer their valuable time and effort in taking
up positions on the board of directors.
Our president Ed Collins reported another good year at the club with
pleasing interest being shown in events such as the annual dinner and the
flying competitions. Ed’s full report can be read in the printed annual report
document sent to all members.
Jerry reported that financially the club is in a sound position.
Hire rates on the club’s aircraft are a little down on last year but
are generally healthy. The club also has modest savings ready for future
events and the required overhaul of the aircraft engine sometime in 2010.
The board also announced that Ed Collins has been made a life member of
the club. There is no doubt about Ed’s long term contribution to the club,
as secretary for over 13 years and now as president. The decision to bestow
life membership was met with unanimous support form all members.
Elections of office bearers was next on the agenda with Ed Collins being returned as Club President.
Ed’s election was met with great applause. We all agreed that his untiring work and great
leadership has made had unmistakable benefits for the club. Kevin Wilkins was elected as Vice President.
Kevin continues to show great strength and loyalty for the aero club and his work as vice president
is much appreciated. Congratulations Kevin. Brian Harvey was elected as club secretary.
Brian’s energy and enthusiasm for club events is well known and we are very
pleased to have him in again taking an important role in club affairs.
Jerry Trevor-Jones was elected as treasurer. Jerry is well known
to all and his ability and reliability as a club officer is also well
known. I am sure all members will be happy to have Ed, Kevin, Brian and
Jerry working as club officials again.
Positions on the board of directors were enthusiastically sought which is
a great sign of energy and interest in the club. The new board members are John Marston,
Doug Drummond, Leigh Cutler, Peter Ticehurst, John Nichol and Matthew Millett. Congratulations to all.
