The Bathurst Aero Club held its 2006 Annual General meeting last night in the clubhouse. Reports from the
president and treasurer were received and we heard that the club remains viable financially and continues
to provide welcome service and facilities to members.
Kingsley Picker took the opportunity to step down as president. Kinsley has been an active, thoughtful and knowledgeable
member of the club for more than 20 years and wishes to take a well earned break from club duties for a little while.
We know Kingsley will remain active in club activities in future and we all wish to thank him for his outstanding contribution.
Treasurer Jerry Trevor-Jones reported that the club's financial position remains sound and that all outgoings are
covered by incomings but with little to spare: 'line-ball' was his description. As always, usage of the aircraft
is the key to generating good club income. Our VH-BAC has seen a welcome increase in usage over the last few months but
overall usage over the year is down on previous years. Congratulations and thanks Jerry for a job well done as
treasurer.
Elections of the new executive and board proceeded without delay. Congratulations to David Bull our new club president
and to Graham Gentles our new vice president. Brain Bailey was elected Treasurer and Ed Collins was elected Secretary and we are sure
will continue his fine effort. Congratulations David, Graham, Brian and Ed.
The new board of directors consists of Peter Ticehurst, Matthew Millet, John Marsden, Kevin Wilkins, Tom Fallow
and Errol Chopping. Club patrons Nancy Bird-Walton, Ron Jobling and Jerry Trevor-Jones were re-elected and our current solicitor and auditor
also re-appointed.
The motion to raise the annual fee by $5.00 generated a lot of discussion. Most members appeared to agree that
the increase was modest and probably justified in terms of meeting costs, but they also felt that an increase
may put new membership at risk. Innovative ideas about substantial increases in fees offset by discounts for
club duties were also discussed. Ultimately, the motion to increase fees was lost and they will remain
at their same level in future.
Thanks goes to all who attended and congratulations to the executive and board members.
