Is it time to change the club aircraft?

The treasurer's report presented at our recent Annual General Meeting outlined various costs to the club over the last year. It was apparent that our club aircraft, Bravo Alpha Charlie, a Cessna 172S, was responsible for many of these costs as it required a significant amount of unsheduled maintenance during that period. The board considered whether to sell the aircraft and purchase another, and sought the services of an exprienced agent to advertise our aircaft for sale and to source a suitable replacement.

The agreement for the sale and replacement is due to end in the next few weeks and the board is again considering whether to extend it and actively seek a change or whether to end the agreement and retain the current aircaft. The choice is between the aircraft we have, with expensive maintenance costs in the past but with future maintenance unknown; or the purchase of a different aircraft which would require the club to take out and service a loan.

We are seeking members' opinions on this issue and invite members to either post comments and opinions to the club feedback service here, or to send email messages here; and of course to talk to board members about the issue.
