The Bathurst Aero Club has acted as an agent for Mobil Oil, selling avgas and lubricants for several
decades but over the past year or so Mobil (now Exxon) has decided to sell off the
smaller aviation agencies in Australia, including Bathurst.
The installation has been purchased by Arcav Air from Albury who have created their own network in
southern NSW encompassing Cooma, Griffith, Goulburn and Parkes and now Bathurst.
The Club will continue to operate the installation under a similar agreement to that which
it had with Mobil i.e. we will receive a monthly retainer as well as a commission for each litre sold.
The agency will still carry the Mobil brand so all Mobil cards from other agents will be accepted by
the bowser except those issued by Bathurst Aero Club. Existing customers of the Club will
be offered Mobil cards from the Arcav Air agency so that they can continue to use the Bathurst
installation when the final changeover occurs shortly.
We will also now be able to use Bankcard, Visa etc for fuel purchases through Arcav Air's credit card facility.
This will facilitate sales to visitors and others without aviation cards.
This agreement removes a major source of uncertainty for the Club's management,
as it seemed that we could have lost the revenues from fuel sales entirely.
Arcav Air is a pro-active organization that is very supportive of flying organizations such as Angel
Flight and is happy to add some support for the Club's planned fly-in on
Sunday October 16 by way of a five cent per litre discount on Avgas purchased at the Mobil Aviation bowser.
(To qualify for the discount, pilots must purchase their fuel by using an Arcav Air Mobil
Aviation Carnet Card or credit card.)
