Bathurst Aero Club, in conjunction with Central West Flying, is proud to announce the provision of a learn-to-fly
scholarship. The scholarship will pay for 35 hours of flying lessons and theory briefings and will supply all standard text books
and notes leading to
the qualification of the Recreational Aviation Australia's Pilot Certificate, which enables the holder
to fly solo and with passengers in and around the vicinity of Bathurst. The scholarship is worth in excess of $7000.
Applications for the scholarship are now sought from people in the Bathurst, Central Tablelands or Blue Mountains
areas, who have a good command of the English language, a willingness to learn and succeed, the time to devote
to flying lessons and who are likely to be able to use their flying qualification well into the future. The flying lessons will be delivered by Central West Flying in their
late model Jabiru 160 recreational aircraft and it is intended that the training would be completed by June 2011.
The procedure
Applications for the scholarship can be made directly to the Bathurst Aero Club or Central West Flying
using the application form provided below. Applications close on April 15 2010. Each applicant must then complete
a Trial Instructional Flight, at their own cost ($70) by May 31, 2010. In June, copies of study notes will be
emailed to candidates and a short theory test and interview will be conducted. By the end of June the scholarship
winner will be chosen, have their aviation medical test conducted and be announced at an Aero Club function.
